Biography

Wesley Wray (Young Ibrahim) Broadway debut! BFA Musical Theatre student at the University of Michigan (class of ‘26) and proud native of Miami, Florida. Wesley is a member of the Peter London Global Dance Company, celebrated for its distinctive Afro-Caribbean movement style. Wesley’s extensive training includes studying at the Alvin Ailey School, where he honed his skills in Martha Graham, Lester Horton, and ballet techniques. He further developed his classical acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where he not only performed as Amiens and Silvius in Shakespeare’s As You Like It, but also composed the music for the production. While attending Michigan, Wesley has been seen in A Chorus Line (Mike Costa), Guys and Dolls (Harry the Horse), and most recently in Shaina Taub’s Twelfth Night (Duke Orsino). His most notable film credit includes working as a stand-in for Little in the Oscar-winning film Moonlight. Wesley is thrilled to make his Broadway debut, originating a role in such a beautiful, culturally enriching production. He is deeply grateful to his community for supporting him in reaching this dream.

ILDA MASON (Ensemble) was born and raised in Panamá where she began her acting career with productions such as Peter Pan (Peter Pan), The Beauty and the Beast, A Chorus Line (Bebe) and Hello Dolly (Minnie) among others. She was a professional dancer on Panamá’s “Dancing with the Stars” (Season 2 Champion). She made her feature film debut in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story (Luz) and her Broadway debut with the same show, directed by Ivo Van Hove. TV/Film credits include appearances in “The Equalizer” (CBS) and the upcoming feature musical film Kiss of the Spider Woman. Some of her favorite theater credits are Evita (A.R.T., Shakespeare Theater Company), Come Fall in Love (The Old Globe Theater), On Your Feet! (National tour), West Side Story (Paper Mill Playhouse, Signature Theatre), Cinderella (National tour), and Legally Blonde (China tour). She’s filled with gratitude for the opportunity of telling stories on stage and onscreen, especially Latine ones like BVSC.

Carlos Gonzalez

Carlos E. Gonzalez. Associate Choreographer / Swing / Understudy Juan de Marcos, Young Compay & Young Rubén / Dance Captain. Carlos was born and raised in Bayamo, Cuba. He emigrated after his mother won the United States visa lottery and went on to graduate from Montclair State University with a BFA in Acting. After graduation, Carlos performed in several shows, including the national tour of In the Heights and the Off-Broadway sensation Fuerza Bruta. On Broadway, he was part of the workshops and original casts of On Your Feet, and the Ivo Van Hove revival of West Side Story. Other credits include the film versions of In the Heights, Tick…Tick…Boom! and Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story. Carlos’ relationship to the performing arts has continued to deepen in Cuba as well. He returned to Cuba in a creative role for the productions of Carmen La Cubana and Rent­—which was the country’s first Broadway musical produced by an American company in more than 50 years and is featured in the documentary Revolution Rent on HBO. He has also begun leading trips to Cuba with the purpose of connecting and enriching artists, under the name @TravelTheArtistWay. Being part of the BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB™ production is a dream come true for Carlos, especially as it unites his roots in hearing these songs in the countryside of Cuba and getting to collaborate on the choreography as the associate to Justin Peck and Patricia Delgado. To step onto the Broadway stage to the words of these history-making songs in Spanish, representing his culture and homeland, will be an honor. Carlos is grateful to his husband for supporting him in doing this show and would like to dedicate this performance to his daughter Marina as she begins her journey in this world, and to the many creative artists who still find ways to create in Cuba today.

JULIO MONGE (Compay) is an actor and director, whose role in the critically acclaimed Playwrights Horizons/MCC Theater’s production of John J. Caswell Jr’s Wet Brain, earned him a Lucille Lortel nomination. Broadway performing credits include On Your Feet, Jerome Robbins’ Broadway, Fosse, Paul Simon’s The Capeman and Lincoln Center’s Twelfth Night, among others. Monge directed the US premier of Baipás, a play by Puerto Rican filmmaker and writer Jacobo Morales. Recent tv and film credits include For Life (ABC) and Come Find Me (Indie Film). Monge served as artistic collaborator and consultant in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story (2021). He was honored with the Performing Arts Lifetime Achievement Award, conferred by the Puerto Rican Day Parade Committee (2017).

Tanairi Sade Vazquez is a multi-talented actress, dancer and singer whose vibrant performances have captivated audiences across television, film and Broadway. Her theatrical journey has seen her perform in acclaimed productions such as The Great Gatsby, Hamilton, On Your Feet, Gigi, Wonderland and West Side Story Revival 2009. In the realm of television, Tanairi has showcased her talent most recently in The Equalizer, Season 5. Her first big shot was a recurring role as Annie Valdez in Orange Is the New Black. She can also be seen in Let the Right One In (Showtime), A Luv Tale (BET Plus), Law and Order SVU (NBC), The Blacklist (NBC), The Deuce (MAX), The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon Prime), Fosse/Verdon (FX), and NBC’s Smash. Tanairi has also made her mark in film, appearing in Steven Spielberg’s remake of West Side Story as a featured shark girl, Charita. Most recently, Tanairi starred in Nochebuena as Jennifer, which had its world premiere at the NYLFF and is now available on Prime Video. Tanairi won the Best Featured Actress award at the Georgia Latino Film Festival for her leading role performance as Jennifer in Nochebuena. Anthony Santos

Anthony Santos

Born in New York City, Anthony Santos began his training in dance, acting, and singing at Rosie’s Theatre Kids under the direction of Lori Klinger, where he studied from 2005 to 2013. During this time, he also trained at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater from 2009 to 2013. His summer intensives included Joffrey Ballet, Jacob’s Pillow, and Alonzo King LINES Ballet, all on full merit scholarships. Anthony graduated with a BFA from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts under the direction of Susan Jaffe. He joined the Dance Theatre of Harlem in 2017, dancing under the direction of Virginia Johnson until 2022. While with the company, he also performed as a guest artist with New York City Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Houston Ballet, and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. Following his time at Dance Theatre of Harlem, Anthony toured with the company of Hamilton: The Musical from 2022 to 2023. Most recently, he joined the touring company of Wicked from 2023 to 2024. He performed as a backup dancer for Jennifer Hudson in the Macy’s 2024 Thanksgiving Day Parade, under the choreography of Ebony Williams
